It doesn’t matter where you are on your path to recovery, what matters most is a willingness to connect with a power greater than yourself. Initially, this power can even be the people in the meeting. Simply remain open to what countless alcoholics and addicts worldwide have already acknowledged: that we suffer from a chronic disease of a spiritual nature. The 12 Steps of AA originated with Bill and Bob through the so-called “Oxford Group,” which was based on biblical principles and significantly influenced by Christians in its early days. Simply be open to God revealing Himself to you in His love, just as He has already done in the Tanakh and the Good News. With this in mind, just get started!

We believe what the Prophet Isaiah foretold us in his scrolls in Chapter 53, 1-6 (TLV):

“Who has believed our report? To whom is the arm of Adonai revealed?
For He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, like a root out of dry ground.
He had no form or majesty that we should look at Him, nor beauty that we should desire Him.
He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief, One from whom people hide their faces.
He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.
Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our pains.
Yet we esteemed Him stricken, struck by God, and afflicted.
But He was pierced because of our transgressions, crushed because of our iniquities.
The chastisement for our shalom was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.
We all like sheep have gone astray. Each of us turned to his own way.”

We also believe that this prophesy found its fulfillment in Yeshua, our Messiah, when He read the scroll in the Synagogue with the following words:

“The Ruach Adonai is on me, because He has anointed me to proclaim Good News to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free the oppressed, and to proclaim the year of Adonai’s favor.
He closed the scroll, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. All eyes in the synagogue were focused on Him. Then He began to tell them, ‘Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your ears.’”

Through our journey, we have come to realize an important truth: we cannot fulfill God’s claim to live with him in unclouded fellowship by our own strength and ability. We came to believe through God’s Word and our experience, that true freedom for us is not found in relying solely on ourselves. Instead, we have discovered that real liberation comes from relying on God and receiving His grace and mercy, every new single day in our personal relationship with Him.
