Who we are and what we believe

FREEINDEED ANONYMOUS (FIDA) is a nonprofit and interdenominational fellowship of people in recovery from different kinds of enslavement, addictions, and destructive patterns. What these addictions have in common is a life lived in a state of separation from God, in sin. Through the grace of God and with the help of the 12 steps of FIDA we are growing in the joy of freedom from our sinful nature. Working the 12 Steps enables us to be a faithful person of truth and to have a choice.

Deuteronomy 30:19 “I call on heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have presented you with life and death, the blessing, and the curse. Therefore, choose life, so that you will live, you and your descendants, …”

Our sole standard in all matters is the written Word of God, specifically the “Tanakh” and the “Good News”. We believe that these texts provide a foundation for understanding our lives and our struggles. They serve as a source of strength and guidance for all who seek to live a life of freedom and purpose. Our life stories, healing and restoration testimonies, how God has worked through His Word and the 12 Steps, confirm the truth and power of God’s Word in our lives in multiple ways.

We believe what the Prophet Isaiah foretold us in his scrolls in Chapter 53, 4-6 (CJB):

“4 In fact, it was our diseases he bore,
our pains from which he suffered;
yet we regarded him as punished,
stricken and afflicted by God.
5 But he was wounded because of our crimes,
crushed because of our sins;
the disciplining that makes us whole fell on him,
and by his bruises we are healed.
We all, like sheep, went astray;
we turned, each one, to his own way;
yet Adonai laid on him
the guilt of all of us.”

We also believe that this prophesy found its fulfillment in Yeshua, our Messiah in Luke 4,18-21, when He read the scroll in the Synagogue with the following words:

18 “The Spirit of Adonai is upon me;
therefore he has anointed me
to announce Good News to the poor;
he has sent me to proclaim freedom for the imprisoned
and renewed sight for the blind,
to release those who have been crushed,
19 to proclaim a year of the favor of Adonai.”
20 After closing the scroll and returning it to the shammash, he sat down; and the eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fixed on him.
21 He started to speak to them: “Today, as you heard it read, this passage of the Tanakh was fulfilled!”

Through our journey, we have come to realize an important truth: we cannot fulfill God’s claim to live with him in unclouded fellowship by our own strength and ability. We came to believe through God’s Word and our experience, that true freedom for us is not found in relying solely on ourselves. Instead, we have discovered that real liberation comes from receiving God’s grace and mercy, every single new day.

It does not matter where you come from, nor does it matter how deep you may have fallen into addiction or other destructive behaviors. Whether you have faced the challenges of incarceration, spent time in a psychiatric ward, or battled long-standing issues, you are not alone. Our community is a safe space for individuals from all walks of life. We understand that everyone’s journey is unique, and we honor the diverse experiences that each person brings. We believe that healing and recovery are possible for anyone willing to take the first Step.

The only requirement to come to our meetings is a sincere desire to be free from the addictions and behaviors that so easily enslave us. We recognize that these struggles can take many forms—be it alcohol, drugs, anger, sex, gambling, codependency, sexual abuse, same-sex attraction, or any other challenge. We encourage you to be open to the Word of God, the 12 Steps and the groups of FreeInDeed Anonymous. Then you too may receive the freedom we already enjoy when we share our experience, strength, and hope in recovery.

James 5,16: “Therefore, openly acknowledge your sins to one another, and pray for each other, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” (CJB)

We find strength in one another as we support each other in our quests for healing and restoration.

If you are seeking a place of acceptance, understanding, and hope, we invite you to join us at FreeInDeed Anonymous. Together, we can walk the path of recovery, guided by faith and the promise of a new beginning.
